Fat Flush – DR

In the dieting industry, “fat” and “carbohydrates” are four-letter words. The Fat Flush diet is a 3-phase diet that centers around eating the right kinds of fats, carbs, and proteins without eliminating them altogether.

What Is the Fat Flush Diet?
The Fat Flush diet believes that weight gain and the inability to lose weight centers around five main principles:
Liver. According to the creator of the Fat Flush diet, many people have toxic livers. The first part of the diet works to detoxify the liver, making it a healthier fat-burning machine.
Waterlogged tissues. This results in bloating, water retention, and water weight gain.
Fear of eating fat. Not all fat is bad for you , and Fat Flush dieters learn that eating the right fats can actually help you lose weight.
Excess insulin. This too leads to weight gain. The Fat Flush diet claims to help regulate insulin
Stress fat. Excess stress leads to overeating and “stress fat.”

What Are the Stages?
Similar to other cleansing and low-carb diets, the Fat Flush diet consists of three stages:

Phase 1 – The two-week Fat Flush. This is considered the most difficult part of the diet. During the first phase, dieters consume no more than 1,200 calories. Foods are limited as the liver is cleansed.

Phase 2 – During Phase 2, the weight loss portion of the diet, dieters gradually add back a “friendly” carb a week, taking care to make sure the body doesn’t react adversely to it.

Phase 3 – The last phase is the lifestyle potion of the diet, designed specifically to be adhered to for life. This phase reintroduces healthy grains one at a time to gauge the body’s reaction. In addition, two dairy products are allowed in this phase as well.

Review

Health – 2. The diet itself long-term is too protein rich, and eliminating many carbohydrates and dairy products can be harmful in the long-term as dieters are deprived of certain nutrients.
Cost – 3. While the diet is fairly limiting in some aspects (no sugar, breads, etc.), it could be expensive as dieters on the Fat Flush diet will be using supplements such as flaxseed oil, protein powder, and others.

Ease of Implementation – 2. The Fat Flush Diet is not the easiest in the world to follow. Foods are limited and there are certain “rules” to follow that can be difficult to keep straight; for example, no fruits and vegetables together, no drinking milk with a meal that includes meat, and no drinking water while eating.

Ease of Adherence – 1. This is a very strict diet, especially in the first two weeks. Foods and beverages are limited, and vegetarians will have a difficult time with this diet.

Speed – 4. Dieters will notice that they lose weight, especially in the initial phase. Some people have reported losing up to 12 pounds in the first two weeks.

Long-term potential – 2. This diet is not considered nutritionally balanced by some, and many will have a difficult time following it long-term.

Busy lifestyle rating – 2. Certain recipes and drinks that are required for this diet are somewhat time-consuming to make. Each morning, dieters drink a mixture that combines psyllium husks in a glass of cran-water, which is not always easy for people on the go.

Family Friendly – 2. This is not really a diet for the whole family. It’s very restricting.
