A vegetarian diet consists of eating only foods that come from plants. This includes fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, seeds and nuts. There are other not as strict vegetarian diets that only get rid of red meat and allow lean meats. There are some that will also include dairy products.
The strict vegetarian diet though only includes things that come from plants. Some people might think that it sounds a little crazy, but it is the truth.
There are a lot of excellent nutrients that can be found in these foods. They will help your body be strong and function properly as well as give you a lot of energy which will help you be alert and more aware throughout the day.
This diet could also be a little bit bad for you though because it is lacking in some very important ingredients that come from grains, meat and dairy products. Although you do need the nutrients that come from fruits and vegetables, eating too many of them without the nutrients that can be found in meat, grains and dairy products will throw you off balance.
You need to work on your all around health and give it all the nutrients it needs, nut just some. This is how the vegetarian diet could be not wo wonderful as some other diets.
For health, this diet should get a seven. While it is very rich and plentiful in many important nutrients, it is still missing some important nutrients that come from the other food groups. One major one being protein that is found in meat.
For ease of implementation this diet should get a five. It would be hard to implement if you were coming from a diet where you did eat a lot of meat, grains and dairy. It would be difficult to always eat only things that come from plants. You would probably get cravings for meat and such very frequently there at the beginning.
For ease of adherence this diet should receive a five as it would most likely be very hard to stick to. The fact that you could not have meat, grains and dairy would make you want them even more. If you were having cravings for them, it would be very hard not to give in and eat them whenever you felt like it.
For long term potential this diet should get an eight. In the long term you would be very healthy and your body would be very strong. But it would still be missing some very important things and it would not have the proper balance. One of these important things is protein. Your body needs protein and a major part of its protein intake would come from meat.
For family friendly this diet should receive a six. It would be hard on your family to make them all eat this way as well as you and if you did not make them eat that way then you would have to eat different meals then them. That would be very inconvenient.
For the busy lifestyle it gets a five because it would be hard and time consuming to have to find things to eat with so many things excluded. You could never stop and pick anything up and after awhile you would probably get sick of raw vegetables and such so you would have to come up with meals to eat that were not raw. This would take time and would be tough for someone who is always busy.
The vegetarian diet is very good except for the fact that it is missing some very important nutrients. These nutrients someone would have to consider before starting the diet. How would they get them?
