As companies have begun to see the benefit of having healthy employees, they have moved toward creating group workouts and training sessions at their businesses.Undertaking to create a system of workouts and training sessions for employees can be a daunting task, especially if owners and managers are not educated in that field. No matter the size of a business, creating group workouts and training sessions is a doable task.
Build a Gym
Some larger companies have the resources to build a gym on site for use by employees. These gyms range in size depending on the resources of the company. Some of them include personal trainers, masseuses, and diet experts. These gyms have the charge to encourage health among all of the employees. The trainers offer group workouts, and the diet experts offer trainings on eating healthy. Also, employees are able to get a workout in during lunch. This is obviously the best way to go if the resources are available to do so.Nothing can beat the convenience of an in-house gym.
Hire an Instructor
Because it is usually unlikely that a trained fitness instructor is employed at a particular business, companies may consider hiring a trained fitness instructor to come at scheduled times to carry out group workouts. Many instructors are able to do a variety of types of workouts including yoga, aerobics, kick boxing, spinning, etc.Companies would only need to provide a place for the workouts and schedule the times of each.In some cases, they may need to purchase a minimum amount of equipment such as mats, step blocks, or towels. These instructors may even be willing to provide trainings for employees as well. This is a good option for companies who may have more limited resources because they would only need to pay the instructor during select hours instead of full-time.
Offer Incentives
Business owners or managers may find that the resources available to create group workouts and trainings are too limited to be able to apply any of the previous suggestions. That’s ok!Companies that find themselves in this situation may consider offering incentives to employees that they know are physically active to create a simple program for the company. If a company has an employee that likes to jog, bike, lift weights, etc., then that employee could be in charge of a group workout one day per week. This way, the company does not need to spend lots of money on equipment or instructors; rather they simply need to provide a few incentives to active employees and time for other employees to take advantage of the workouts.
Encourage Healthy Lifestyles
No matter what type of workout and trainings program a company decides to use, they must consider ways to encourage employees to take advantage of the opportunity.Employers should ensure that employees feel free to workout without receiving any kind of slack from their supervisors.Sometimes a set plan signed by the employee and the supervisor is the best way to ensure that everyone understands how much time a certain employee will be allotting to exercise.
Another method is to offer incentives to employees that use the time allotted for exercise the best.Prizes, special privileges, or simply a certificate can be enough to encourage employees to take advantage of the facilities the company has used resources to put in place.
