Myxomas

Some basic facts about myxomas tumors found in the heart.
1. Myxomas, by definition, is a benign tumor in your heart that is made up of connective tissue and mucus.
2. Most cases of myxomas occur in the left atrium of the heart, though they can occur in the right atrium of the heart as well.
3. A benign tumor is not malignant; that is, it’s not cancerous. But because of the sensitive place in which a myxomas tumor is located, it can cause problems for the sufferer.
4. Myxomas tumors often run in families. You can inherit the condition from your mother or father and not know it.
5. Myxomas tumors interfere with the functioning of the heart. Again, they are benign, they aren’t cancerous. But a hard lump of materials in your body’s main engine can lead to complications.
6. Myxomas tumors have to be surgically removed. Your doctor can locate the tumors through special equipment which takes photographs of the dealings of your heart.

7. It is possible to die from a myxomas tumor, even though it is benign. A myxomas tumor, for example, can interfere with the blood flow, or can block it entirely. With the blood flow blocked, blood clots can form, hemorrhaging can occur. Blood clots and hemorrhaging lead, in turn, to stroke, paralysis, heart attack, and death.
8. If your family has a history of heart problems, it’s best that you make regular appointments with your doctor, even though you may not feel that anything is particularly wrong. As with all heart problems, myxomas tumors take time to grow and to interfere with your heart’s normal processes. Just because you’re not feeling anything now doesn’t mean you won’t feel anything later. It’s best to be on the safe side.
9. Symptoms of myxomas tumors include fatigue, that is, tiredness and listlessness. Other symptoms are chest pains, a squeezing in the chest, a burning in the chest. Chest pain, however, is rare when dealing with myxomas tumors.
10. Myxomas symptoms are similar to symptoms that occur in certain valve disorders. These symptoms include coughing, irregular heart beat, a fluttering in the heart, and feelings of faintness and dizziness.
11. Other (even more serious) symptoms may occur, such as loss of sight. Fever may occur, weight loss may occur.
12. In most cases of myxomas symptoms, the exact cause is unknown.
13. Your doctor will most likely be suspicious of myxomas tumors if your family has a history of them or a history of heart disease in general.
14. Aside from educating yourself the best you can about heart disease, a healthy diet and regular exercise are crucial to keeping a healthy heart.
15. A healthy diet consists of eating fresh, natural foods, that is, foods that grow straight from the earth. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and beans fall into this category. Nuts fall into this category. These foods will not only give you wholesome and enduring energy, they’ll help to build up your heart and keep it safe from disease and invasion.
16. Fatty, greasy foods, such as those that come from animals, are bad for your heart. Milk, cheese, eggs, meat, cream, etc., eaten in excess, leads to heart failure and heart disease.
17. If suffering any of the symptoms listed above, you should see your doctor immediately. It’s not necessary to experience them all at the same time in order to schedule an appointment! If you feel that something’s wrong, go right on in, and confer with your doctor and build a plan for rebuilding your heart.
