Lemonade Diet: What you can eat

When you are on the lemonade diet, there really is not much you can eat. Pretty much the only thing that will be on your menu for a while will be the lemonade drink that you make for yourself, some laxative tea, and if you choose you can have salt water.

The lemonade drink consists of two tablespoons of lemon or lime juice, two tablespoons of maple syrup (real maple syrup), a tenth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and enough water combined with all this to fill up a ten oz. cup.

Pretty much for ten to forty (which seems a little much) days you will be drinking this juice and when you feel hungry you will be drinking more of this juice to quench the hungry feeling in your stomach.

The laxative tea is supposed to help you clear out your bladder. You are supposed to drink a cup of it every morning and every night. OR if you choose to, you can drink a quart of salt water in the morning instead of the tea.

The salt water mixture is made by putting two tablespoons of uniodized salt in a quart of lukewarm water and mixing it all up nice and . . . mixed. Then you drink it. Within an hour you should start to feel very much like the salt water has just gone through you and cleared out anything that might be left in your self.

If you choose not to do the salt water in the mornings, then you just do the tea each morning and night.

When your body is finished being cleansed, then you have a four-day process to get back to normal. Normal meaning that it is able to handle food and such again. You can either do that, or do a three-day process and instead of returning to a normal diet, do a raw fruit, nut and vegetable diet.

This diet is what is recommended but it is not the healthiest since you will not get nutrients and things that come from other foods such as meat, dairy and grains.

The process to get back to your normal diet is this:

On the first day you drink as many eight ounce glasses of orange juice you want throughout the entire day. On the second day you drink as much orange juice as you want, and sometime in the afternoon you have a bowl of homemade vegetable soup.

On the third day you have orange juice in the morning, vegetable soup at noon and for dinner you can have any vegetables, fruits or salads that you would like. On the forth day you can go back to eating normal. It is suggested that you continued to drink juice each morning.

If you start to have distress or gas then it is suggested that you do the lemonade fast for several more days until your body is ready to handle regular food. Then try again to begin eating and hopefully your body will be able to handle it. Usually your body is done cleansing when your tongue turns a healthy, clean pink, unlike the white that it may turn during the fast.

If you do the fast and want to do the raw fruit, nut and vegetable diet afterwards the process is this:

On the first day as well as the second day you drink orange juice all day long, as much as you want. On the third day you have juice in the morning, raw fruit for lunch and for dinner you have fruit, vegetables, salad . . . anything you want. Then your body will be ready for the raw fruit, vegetable and nut diet.
