Healthy Diet: What you can eat

In a healthy diet you can basically eat anything that is in the food pyramid. Of course you cannot eat them in excess; you have to eat them in moderation and balance.

It would be no good if you just ate a lot of one thing or a lot of another. For instance, let’s just say you ate all fish and no fruit. Not only would you start to smell (just kidding) you would have a whole lot of protein and not enough vitamins and carbs from the fruit. You would throw your body completely off balance and that would basically stink pretty badly.

So maybe you wouldn’t throw your body completely off balance, but pretty much, it would still be off balance.

Or let’s say you ate a lot of fats and oils and nothing fresh. You would bloat up like . . . something huge. You would get fat. Or if you ate too much fresh and not enough fish, you wouldn’t have enough protein. Sheesh! That is how important it is to keep yourself in balance.

You need to be eating some of everything. You don’t need to eat a lot of one thing.Maybe if you are deficient in one area you will need to eat more of one things to get caught up, but in the end, once everything came up to its proper place, then you would need to make sure it was all balanced.

So what it is exactly that is in the food pyramid and what exactly are the servings? In the food pyramid there are four levels. The first level is rice, bread, grains, etc. In this level you are supposed to have five to seven servings a day.

The next level has fruits and vegetables and you are supposed to have two servings of each per day. These first two levels are the levels tat you are supposed to select more of and make the majority of your diet.

The third level has meat and alternatives and you are supposed to have two to three servings daily. Finally, the fourth level is fats, oil, salt and sugar and you are supposed to use it in small amounts. These last two levels you are supposed to eat less of and they are supposed to make up a smaller part of your diet.

So a good meal plan for one day would be this:

At breakfast have a whole grain piece of toast with some fruit and some oatmeal. For lunch have a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with some carrots and an apple.
For dinner have stir fried veggies with cooked fish, some rice and maybe some ice cream for dessert.

In this plan you got three servings of the first level for breakfast and four more from lunch and dinner. You got two fruit servings, one from breakfast and one from lunch. You also got two vegetable servings, one from lunch and one from dinner.

Then you got your third level servings with fish and finally to top it of you got some ice cream which is in the fourth level.

This diet is well rounded, simple and took one minute to think up. It doesn’t take much be sides you self discipline to get healthy and keep your health under your own control.

You didn’t have to sign up for any diets, you didn’t have to order any books on the subject, all you had to do was learn to control your appetite on your own and to make smart choices. So there you go.
